Week 26, Baby #2

By now, the baby's lungs and brain are much more developed. In fact, the baby can likely detect light and dark through the optic nerve. She can now also hear more than just my rumbling tummy, such as outside noises like Justin & Addison’s voices!
The baby is roughly 14 inches in size which is about the length of a hothouse cucumber and weighs about 1.75 lbs.  I feel like she already weighs 5 lbs., but that probably isn’t right!!

I have the most intense pelvis pressure/pain where it feels like someone has just been punching me there non-stop!  I’ll stand up after a long night’s sleep and have shooting pains.  Such a lovely thing especially when there is still roughly 14 weeks to go!  I’ve been icing my pelvis at night & popping Tylenol to help alleviate some of that pain, but not much helps.  We are looking forward to our Halloween filled weekend with friends!

Week 25, Baby #2

The baby's body parts are continuing to become more proportional to each other. Baby fat is also continuing to fill in the baby's wrinkled skin for a smoother look and more hair is growing, developing texture and color.  The baby’s current size is about 13.5 inches (the size of a rutabaga) and weighing in around 1.5 lbs.

I feel HUGE and am round like a soccer ball.  The weeks have been flying by way too quick.  I need to get my act together and start getting things in order.  Addison’s birthday has come and gone, so now it’s time to get in gear!

Addison's 5 Year Well Appointment

My poor kid was put through the ringer today for her 5 year well appointment.
It started off innocent enough, getting her stats:

Height – 3feet 7 inches (60th percentile)
Weight – 41.5 lbs. (60th percentile)

It then went downhill from there.  She was due for her DTap, IPV (together), MMR, Variella & Flu Shot.  In total, she had four shots administered into her 2 little thighs.  She was so upset before they even came in for the shots and screamed and cried which just broke my heart.  She kept asking me to tell the doctor she didn’t need them and she was already healthy.  Then she just kept saying I’m so tired mom, I want to go home and go to bed.  When the nurse came in she got even worse and eventually I had to hold her down laying on top of her.  Such fun for everyone!  I felt so bad for her and she was completely drained after the whole ordeal.  After the doctor, we went and got frozen yogurt, but the damage was done…she was just a sad little girl and wanted to go home and snuggle.  So, we went home and literally spent the evening cuddled up on the couch.  She complained several times of her legs hurting so we gave her some Tylenol.  She fell asleep pretty good and slept soundly through the night.  So glad shots aren’t a regular occurrence!

Addison's 5th Birthday!

We started off Addison’s birthday with a party at Pump-It-Up.  We had lots of friends attend the party and it was a big success.  She was spoiled by everyone!
After the party, Addy & I took a much needed nap before her family dinner that evening.  Her birthday dinner request was her daddy’s pasta sauce.  Justin came home from the party and immediately started his sauce so we could eat around 6pm.

My mom, dad, Justin’s mom, Justin & I were all there for Addison’s birthday dinner.  We had a nice dinner just the six of us, then opened birthday presents from the family and then had cake.  Addy had requested a chocolate cake, with chocolate icing, with a white circle on top and strawberries.  It was a very random request, but grandma stepped up to the plate and delivered!  She was so excited and thankful for all the gifts she opened up.  It was such a fun day and I honestly can’t believe my baby is 5!!

Week 24, Baby #2

With all the rapidly developing senses in the baby, she should probably be able to sense what is upside down or right side up.  Her respiratory system is also rapidly growing, lungs are developing in preparation for breathing, moving amniotic fluid in and out of the lungs. For now she still gets oxygen through my placenta.  Her current size is about 12.5 inches (length of corm) and weighs around 1.25 lbs.
I am definitely feeling this pregnancy in my pelvic area and that same old rib spot.  Yesterday I had my monthly checkup and everything looked good.  The baby’s heart rate was around 145 and they said I am measuring slightly large which tends to happen after the first baby.  At my next appointment, they will talk C-section dates.  It seems so crazy to be thinking about that already!  Our house has been crazy the past week with all the rain we got on Saturday (Hurricane Matthew) and the tiny leak in the attic, prepping for Addison’s 5th birthday party and cleaning for when Nonna gets into town.  I can’t believe my little one turns 5 on Saturday!  I can still remember the days leading up to her birth and how nervous and excited I was.  5 years seems like eons ago.  We are all excited for her birthday party on Saturday at Pump-It-Up and her family dinner that evening.

Week 23, Baby #2

The baby is pretty active right now and I feel movement & kicks in my belly.
Justin felt her moving for the first time on Friday night, September 30th.  I thought it was very exciting!  Addy said she could feel her kicking, but I still don't know if she is!
Overall, the baby is now more proportioned from head size to the rest of the body and is looking more and more like a newborn.  The baby's size is roughly 11.5 inches which is about the size of a large mango.  My body is doing OK...I have the same sharp pain on my right side near my ribs and basically the same spot location wise on my back.  Other than that, nothing too exciting to report.  I am constantly tired, but I guess that's to be expected. We had a wedding this past weekend and I was up about 4 hours past my usual bedtime!  It has taken me a few days to recoup.
I definitely need to buy some fall maternity clothes.  I have nothing for the cold months except for a few shirts!  We are hoping to start the transition of moving Addy to the 2nd bedroom.  Her birthday is creeping up, so once we get through that weekend, we will start in on the transition.  My pregnancy app said I have about 119 days to go...which seems crazy to me!  That doesn't sound like long, so I think we need to get moving on some stuff!
