12 Weeks!

Finally at week 12!  While getting ready today I got a sweet kiss from the hubs saying Happy 12 Weeks!  It seems like the past 6 weeks have flown by!  The websites I follow are saying that the baby weighs a full half-ounce and is about the size of a large plum for those of you keeping track!  I still can't seem to find anything good to eat.  I am totally struggling with things that sound good.  My mom baked some banana bread today and it hit the spot!  Now if she could just think of something everyday, we'd be good.  All the websites and books say that the nausea should fad right around now and my appetitie will pick back up.  I am hoping this is the case because it is a chore to eat right now!
Other then that, there isn't anything too exciting going on.  Justin's 30th Birthday is creeping up on us...March 31st!  I can't believe we will both be turning 30 this year, it seems unreal.  It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating his 21st birthday...Although I am glad we have grown up a bit since then!  I am thinking that once 13 weeks hits, I will start taking pics of the belly bumb and posting them.  Right now I can't tell if I'm showing, overweight or bloated!

11 Weeks!

According to the website I am following (www.babycenter.com), the baby is just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig.  The hands will soon open & close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under the gums, and some of the bones are beginning to harden.  Also, the female or male organs are starting to develop!  We will definitely be finding out whether the baby is a boy or girl.  I already think we are having a boy.  I've had a few dreams about babies and they all seem to be little boys.  I guess only time will tell.  We can find out about the sex of the baby around 18 weeks.  I am a planner and I need to know, blue or pink!!

Yummy!

I have been having MAJOR sushi cravings while everything else sounds horrible!  Thankfully a lovely Whole Foods just opened up right down the street from our office.  They have the sushi separated into sections of cooked, raw & vegetable.  I would love to eat the raw stuff, but that's a no go, so cooked it is.  I might even try some of the veggie ones.  Today I bought a crab roll which had avocado sticks, carrots, cooked crab meat and rice.  Nothing too exciting, but it did the trick.
For those of you who haven't heard of Whole Foods, it is the world's largest retailer of natural and organic foods.  It reminds me a little bit of Wegman's.  They have a whole section ready for the lunch crowd which consists of hot foods, cold foods, a salad bar, pizza, sandwiches, soups, sushi & desserts.  I managed to find a few other things that looked tasty...mashed potatoes, green beans and mac & cheese.  I am totally over grilled cheese & pastina soup, but can't figure out things that actually sound good in place of them.  I am hoping that my appetite starts to pick up soon and I can think of things to eat!  I literally don't think I have eaten chicken in over a month and a half and have no idea when the thought of it won't revolt me.  If anyone can think of some delicious dinner options let me know!

Meralgia Paresthetica

Meralgia paresthetica is a condition characterized by tingling, numbness and burning pain in the outer part of your thigh. The cause of meralgia paresthetica is compression of the nerve that supplies sensation to the skin surface of your thigh.
Tight clothing, obesity or weight gain, and pregnancy are common causes of meralgia paresthetica. Meralgia paresthetica occurs when the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve — a nerve that supplies sensation to the surface of your outer thigh — becomes compressed, or "pinched."

I basically noticed a tingling feeling in my right thigh since week 7. I went to see my primary physician and he said it was probably because of where the baby is situated. It is the most annoying feeling ever! My leg tingles, feels numb or has shooting pains going through it at pretty much every point in the day. It is usually at its worst when I wake up in the morning. There is basically nothing you can do about...just have to deal with it. If anyone has any ideas on how to manage it better, let me know!

Starting to feel a little bigger

I've recently had to make some alterations to my jeans. I still can button my jeans, but it just doesn't feel comfortable when I do! So, instead of buttoning them, I use a hair tie! With the hair tie, I am given a little more breathing room and don't feel so constricted! I have to make sure I wear longer shirts though so people don't see my handy work. My work pants still fit pretty good and I am holding out on buying anything. Summer is just around the corner and I fully intend to wear a dress at every possible moment!!

Ups & Downs

I am going to try and write as much stuff down as possible going forward! One of my good friends, Katie, told me that she knows of a woman who kept track of everything until her baby's first birthday and then somehow had the blog printed into a book! I thought that would be a really neat thing to have, so I am going to try my hardest!

So far throughout the pregnancy I have felt pretty good. I definitely have my moments of feeling disgusting, but nothing to horrible. As of right now, I have had a huge aversion to chicken. Cooked, raw, breaded, fried, whole, pieces...you name, I don't want to think about it much less eat it! My meals have consisted of lots of grilled cheese, soup, cheese quesadillas, waffles, toaterstroodles and all types of snacks. Thankfully, Justin has been great and pretty much goes along with whatever I want...we will see how long that lasts!

I haven't really thrown-up a whole lot, but I have been gagging A LOT. Any little thing sets me off...taking pills, waking up, taking Brinkley out, staying up too late, not having enough food in my tummy, etc. I am mostly home when I make my gagging noises, but not always. Brinkley becomes very concerned when I am making these noises. She follows me into the bathroom if I don't close the door quick enough and will then continue to follow me when I find a place to get cozy. She will then sit 2 inches away from my face and just look concerned. It cracks me up how cute she is...I have no idea what's going on in her head! Right now Brinkley is the baby and she is spoiled rotten, so it will be interesting to see how she acts when the baby arrives. She is very good with others' small children, but then again those kids always disappear after a little while so it isn't like she is spending long amounts of time with them. I do know Brinkley isn't a fan of Justin giving other dogs attention...she doesn't really care if I do, just Justin. I'm not sure what her logic is! If Justin is talking, petting or paying attention to another dog, she will put her front paws on his chest and lick his face and box the other dog out like she is claiming him...hopefully she won't do that with a baby!! All in all she is a sweet dog, so I am crossing my fingers that she behaves once the baby arrives!

More News!

After calling my grandma several times, she finally decided to answer her phone! My grandma is in a nursing home and i don't think she sits in her room too often. She is constantly out and about! She can't formulate sentences since her stroke many years ago, but I could tell she was overjoyed by our news!! She sounded so excited and thought it was hysterical when I told her my mom was going to be a grandma! I gave her all of the good details and she continued to be just very happy for us. It was a great feeling!!
Hopefully after our April 6th appointment I will be able to make a few copies of the sonogram to mail to the grandparents & great-grandparents!

Spreading the news!

So after much thought and deliberation, we decided to share our news with a few more family members. At first I was nervous because I wanted to reach the 12 week mark, but then I got so antsy and just wanted to tell everyone! So, Justin's mom concocted a story to get some family members to meet up at Nana & Papa's house that night. Justin came home right after work instead of heading to the gym so we could call Nana & Papa and tell everyone who was there. When we called, we heard several voices...Nana, Papa, Uncle Greg, Uncle Bob, Jeanie and of course Justin's parents. They put us on speaker phone and let Justin do the talking. He kind of dragged it out a little BUT finally got to the point! Everyone was ecstatic and there were tears all around. For those family members who weren't there, word spread and we received high-pitched phone calls very quickley!
After things settled down a bit I made phone calls to my cousin Lorri & Aunt Helen. I was soo happy to tell them our news as they also knew we'd been trying for awhile! I can't wait to see all of our Endicott families at Easter time...hopefully I won't be too round then!

Meet the Doctor

Today I had my first appointment with Dr. Clark. There are several doctors in the practice and I will get a chance to meet them all throughout the pregnancy. They have you meet with all of the doctors because you never know who is going to show up in the delivery room! I really liked Dr. Clark, she was great! They had gotten back all of my test results and everything looked good. They are going to keep an eye on my Thyroid because it is under active, but other then that all was well. At this appointment I didn't have an ultrasound, so unfortunately no pictures! Our next appointment isn't until April 6th which will put us right over the 13 week mark. Looking forward to it!!
