July 2017

Another fun month!  I can’t believe that we’ve been a family of 4 for ½ a year now!  It seems crazy to me!  We’ve had our ups & downs, but we seem to be doing pretty well!  Usually we parent man-to-man, which seems to make life a little easier.
Hailey is blossoming right before our eyes…she has started to say da-da and possibly Ad-Da (which Addy thinks is Addy – haha).  If it makes her happy, then that’s all that matters.  Hailey is starting to be able to sit-up on her own while being slightly assisted.  It’s easiest if she has someone sitting behind her or the boppy is behind her.  She has done a few face flops, but she really likes to be in the sitting position, in fact, she gets slightly annoyed if you lay her down!  When she is on her tummy, she lifts her head up so high and tries to move and reach for things.  She hasn’t really gotten the concept of her legs moving to help her out though.  I predict she’ll be crawling in no time though.
Since Hailey had her first ear infection, I decided to introduce her to my chiropractor.  I had read some things on this helping infants with ear problems and I really don’t want to get to the point where she might need tubes.  I’m hoping this will help with whatever ear issues she may have had and keep her off any medications!
Hailey was baptized on Saturday, July 22nd with Gannon and Shelly as her god-parents.  It was a low-key day and I actually ended up getting some stomach bug that Justin had a few days prior.  I was out of it for most of the day, so thankfully Justin had his parents in town to help with the girls.  To make life more fun, Hailey started making some weird wheezing noise around 6pm that same night.  She would make the noise when on her back and getting her diaper changed.  It freaked me out completely so Justin & his dad got everything together and headed to an urgent care walk-in.  It was a very weird experience for me to stay home and not take her to the doctors…I felt so helpless but I still wasn’t out of the woods from being sick.  Everything went well and it ended up being just a cold, but I was glad she got the once over.  Justin apparently had to hold her down while they checked her over and she wasn’t a happy camper, so, better him than me!  They got home with her, I changed her into her jammies and she fell asleep pretty quickly.
Sleeping – We are making progress!  Hailey starts the night off in her room in her crib, she wakes usually only once which is when we give her a bottle and then throw her back in her chair in our room.  We really do this out of pure exhaustion and laziness!  She probably would be just fine heading back into her crib after that bottle.  We will be testing this theory soon.  She’s going to need to be used to it because that’s what she’ll be doing when we head to the beach in the middle of August.  Baby-steps!
Eating – she is still eating about 5 oz. of formula every 2-3 hours give or take.  She has tasted a ton of foods!  We have tried and liked: pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, peaches, squash, green beans and prunes.  The only food she hasn’t seemed to like are peas.  At her 6 month appointment I’m going to ask if we are allowed to move to the “step 2” foods…they have a few more combinations and options than what she is eating now.  She is eating one jar at school during the day and one at dinner time around when we eat.  She’s such a big girl eating at the table with us in her highchair.  It seems like yesterday where Justin and I were eating in shifts, taking turns holding her!
Clothing – Hailey is wearing 6 & 9 month tops and mostly 12 month bottoms.  She’s pretty long, so I feel like 9 months is just more comfy for her.  She wears 9 month pj’s and I love it when she wears some of Addy’s old pj’s…so cute!  We just went up to a size 3 in diapers.  She still hasn’t worn any shoes, so I have no idea what size her feet are.  Her feet do seem bigger than Addy’s did at this age, but I could be remembering incorrectly.
Stats – I don’t have her exact stats, but I do know she weighed a little over 17 lbs at her urgent care appointment.
Loves – she loves smiling, it’s her favorite.  She loves watching both her human sis and fur sis.  She has a hard time concentrating on a bottle if they are walking around or making noise.  She loves bath time still.  Recently she’s been sitting on Addy’s lap to splash and play a little before I take her out.
Hates – not much I can think of!  She’s generally a happy girl!  She likes to be held and gets annoyed when you put her down…spoiled, but I don’t care!

June 2017

This month has been a pretty good month and have had a couple of firsts!  On Saturday June 3rd, Hailey rolled over from her back to her tummy several times!  The whole family was there to witness and everyone clapped and cheered for her.  It was so exciting and Addy is Hailey’s biggest cheerleader!  Hailey then rolled back from her tummy to her back!  It seemed like it was by accident, but it happened none-the-less.  She’s been a rolling machine ever since.  Justin & I think she’ll be trying to crawl before we know it.  The following weekend, June 10th, I decided to give Hailey some rice cereal.  She had gotten a horrible stomach bug and couldn’t stop going to the bathroom, so they suggested we give her some to help her out.  She seemed to like it, but I haven’t been pushing it too much.  She’s had it a few times for dinner, but I am not consistent.  Addison loves to help and feeds her really well!
I think Hailey has been saying Ma-Ma…others in the family don’t necessarily agree with me, but I don’t care!  Addy actually yelled at me the other day and said, “Practice saying da-da or Ad-dy with her, she already does ma-ma”!
Hailey also got her first ear infection! I had her at the docs a day before she turned 5 months and sure enough, she was fussy for a reason! She had been up every 2 hours the night before and just seemed off.
Addison had her first ever dance recital and totally rocked it!  There were only 3 kids total and she went out on the stage fearless, we were so proud!
Addison also had her pre-k graduation!  It seems very bitter sweet that she will be starting Kindergarten in the fall.  She was literally at ChildTime since she was 5 months old!
Sleeping – Hailey is still in our room!  I have set a date for her to “move-out” starting on June 30th…it’s time!  She’s been doing well at daycare, they said she rolls over and is a tummy sleeper.  Hailey has been waking only once a night.  It is usually around 4-5:30 and sometimes it is harder to get her back to sleep than other days!  She is usually happy, it’s just tough to be awake that early!
Eating – she is eating about 5 oz. of formula every 2-3 hours give or take.  As I said earlier, we tried out some rice cereal.  She does seem to enjoy and I’ll only really give her some at dinner time.  As the month moves on, I’m sure we’ll start to add in some other items to see what she may like.
Clothing – Hailey is wearing 6 or 9 month clothing.  She is long!  She is continuing to fill out and her cheeks go on for days!  She’s just so cute!
Stats – She weighed in at 15 lbs 6.5 oz when i took her in for her ear infection.
Loves – she is loving most of life!  There isn’t much this girl complains about!! She loves watching Brinkley and thinks she’s hysterical!
Hates – she hates when I have to change her clothes.  She gets super annoyed and starts to cry slightly.  She also doesn’t like getting her nose wiped!  The poor thing has a nasty cough/cold and cries almost immediately after I wipe her nose!

May 2017

May was a long month but it seems to have flown by.  Early on in the month, we had Kindergarten orientation.  Addison is super excited and enjoyed heading to the school to check out the classrooms.  It seems very crazy that she’ll be headed off to school in the fall!
Justin’s mom left to head back to NY after her 6 week stay with us.  It was nice having her around and it’s been tough.  I got very use to having her watch Hailey all day, sending updates and pictures.  It certainly is a different feeling leaving your baby with her grandma than leaving your baby at daycare.  Hailey started daycare on Tuesday, May 30th and I cried my eyes out after dropping the girls off.  I had gotten into a nice groove of waking up and leaving her with Nonna, so this just felt so wrong to me! I know as time goes on, it’ll get easier, but these first few weeks will be tough.
Sleeping – Hailey is still in our room in her little rock & play sleeper.  It is definitely time for her to make the switch to her room, but unfortunately she isn’t used to lying flat on her back!  I’m hoping that daycare will help with this since she’ll be taking naps in a crib there.  I’m hoping to move her little sleeper into her room to at least get her better acquainted with the room.  She is waking 1-2 times per night, eats and usually heads back to bed peacefully.
Eating – she is eating about 4 oz. of formula every 2 hours give or take.  I had her 4 month appointment and forgot to ask about rice cereal!  I know you can start anywhere from 4 – 6 months, but would like to hear it from the doctor’s mouth.  Hailey doesn’t seem like she’d want to eat yet, but I’ll be on the lookout for clues.
Clothing – All of the 3 month clothing has been boxed up and sent to Goodwill!  She is wearing all 6 month clothing at this point and she seems to be filling out more.  Her little cheeks are getting so plump!
Stats from 4 month appointment –
            Weight – 14 lbs 9 oz. (58th percentile)
Height – 26 inches (96th percentile)
Head – 16.14 inches (62nd percentile)
She of course got a fever the next morning and was not herself which I have to assume was from the 3 shots she got.  So she missed her second day of daycare, but I got to snuggle with her quite a bit which I didn’t mind at all.  She was fussy and whiny, but a couple doses of Tylenol and she was as good as new.
Loves – she likes her jungle mat and being held!  She wants to be facing out so she can see everything.  She is super nosy and wants to know what is going on at all times.  Her daddy & sister seem to make her laugh the most.  I love listening to her belly laughs, they are too cute!  She’s big enough/strong enough to sit in the bumbo and she likes that for short time periods.    She loves bath time and enjoys walks in her stroller.

Hates – still not much to complain about.  She gets cranky & upset when you put her in her pajamas and sleep sack.  She knows that bottle is coming and she wants it ASAP!
