December 2017

I am so ready for 2018!  This past month has been filled with sickness upon sickness.  Addison keeps getting a stomach bug with white spots on her throat, but no strep.  Hailey keeps getting ear infections with lots of fluid in her ears.  Both girls were referred to an ENT where it was decided that Addy could keep her tonsils for now, but Hailey will be getting tubes.  We did have some fun times scattered throughout the month.  Addy & I went to Disney on Ice with her Girl Scouts troop.  It was a rainy, freezing night but we had fun!  Justin, Addison, Hailey & I picked out our Christmas tree and did minimal decorations this year because a certain baby is everywhere!  We’ve had to put our ottoman in front of the tree because Hailey likes to put everything in her mouth which includes fallen pine needles or freshly picked ones!  She is pulling up on everything and gets around quickly.  She has even started to shuffle around standing up while holding onto things.  I’m sure she’ll be walking around in no time!  Christmas was somewhat of a disaster.  Leading up to Christmas, Hailey was throwing up here & there.  Nothing horrible, but she definitely was off and wasn’t feeling like her normal self.  Christmas Eve we were at my parents where Hailey decided to throw up again.  Soon after, Addy started saying she didn’t feel good and wanted to go home.  We had barely opened any gifts, but Addy was begging to go home, so off we went.  We weren’t even in the car for 5 minutes when the throw up started.  Thankfully we had left with a trash can!  Poor Addison continued to throw up every 45 minutes well into the night/early morning.  Somehow, Santa managed to drop off presents.  The next morning Addy still didn’t feel good and wasn’t super excited to open presents.  It was such a sad/pathetic day!  Addy finally decided she wanted to open gifts, Hailey threw up one more time for good measure and I started to feel like a bus had hit me.  Im not sure if I had a touch of the stomach bug, but I also had a super achy body.  I ate oatmeal for dinner, Addy had nothing and Justin ate soup & salad…a very exciting Christmas dinner!!  Both Addison & I fell asleep together in bed by 8pm and Justin held the fort down.  Thank god Justin felt good through it all!  The days following continued to be interesting because I had to work and Justin stayed home with the kids.  Hailey went back to the doctor yet again because she had developed some hives that were coming & going.  At the appointment they also let us know she had yet another double ear infection.  She had to receive an antibiotic shot in both legs this time since oral meds weren’t seemingly doing the trick.  That was not fun!  Hailey finally got tubes put in on December 29th.  Addy stayed over with my parents while Justin & I woke up at 5 to bring Hailey to Rex Hospital.  Hailey did really great through the whole thing.  It is nerve wracking handing over your baby to complete strangers, but thankfully they got her back to us under 20 minutes.  She was very upset after the surgery and they warned us that the anesthesia would do that.  We remembered the same thing happening to Addison, but it’s still so hard to witness.  She took down three 4 oz bottles and settled into sleep until we had to put her jammies on to leave.  It was freezing out, so Justin went to grab the car while a nurse pushed me out in a wheelchair while holding Hailey.
Throughout all the drama, Hailey hit her 11 months old mark!
Sleeping – Another month where we go back & forth between her crib and rock & play.  Perhaps tubes will help this poor child sleep more soundly!  Update *** After tubes were put in, Hailey has been primarily a crib baby!  She’s just too big for the chair!
Eating – She had been doing well in the eating department until her stomach bug.  Her appetite has been off and isn’t interested in much lately.  No new foods have been introduced and she drank a lot of pedialyte!
Clothing – Still in 12 month clothing, but some things are starting to get tight!  She definitely needs 18 month pjs because she is sooo long!
Stats – She’s been teetering around that 21 – 22 lbs mark.  She was almost at 22lbs, but again, that stomach bug hit and she’s down a little bit.
Loves – She loves to have screaming contests with Addison, not so fun for the rest of us though!  She likes pulling up, grabbing my earrings out of my ears, putting everything & anything into her mouth, bath time and throwing the ball for Brinkley.

Hates – she still semi hates her crib…but I’m not sure if that’s because her ears are filled with fluid and it bothers her to lie flat!
