March 2015

I totally forgot to mention that we bought Addison a new big girl bed in January!  She was getting way too big for her crib setup and was constantly falling out.  We bought her a Twin sized bed on a random Friday night.  My parents went with Addy & I to the bed store, my dad as the babysitter, my mom as the haggler helper.  We got home with our new bed the same time Justin got home from work.  The four of us together worked quickly and removed the old crib furniture & mattress and got her new bed in and made up in no time.  She was really excited to finally move up in the world.  She’s been doing a lot better at staying in her bed the whole night, but we are nowhere near her being in their all the time.  She is a light sleeper, seems to have some wacky dreams and tosses & turns a lot.

The weather has started to turn and we've had some really nice days.  Justin, Addy & I went to buy a new bird feeder to welcome the good weather.  She excited to see some birds, but no such luck yet!  Perhaps it’s because she is always touching the bird feeder or the fact that she yells out “come get your food, birds”!  Anyways, hoping the weather stays nice and we have some bird visitors…such an exciting life!!

January/February 2015

Time has been flying by!  Towards the middle of January Addison got pink eye.  I knew right when she woke up something was off and I had a feeling it was pink eye.  I knew if I sent her to school, they’d send her right back home with me, so I made an appointment with her doctor and sure enough, PINK EYE!  Lots of hand washing and eye drops made her as good as new in 24 hours.  Next up, we celebrated Guppy’s birthday.  It was pretty uneventful, but Addy sure loves singing Happy Birthday.  The next fun thing we had planned was a get together for the Super Bowl.  We knew we were only going to stay out for the 1st half of the game because we didn't want Addy getting to bed too late and starting off the week rocky.  On the short 15 minute drive home, Addy started acting super cranky and said her stomach hurt.  By the time we got home, she had spiked a fever and was completely needy.  She sat on my lap for about an hour and watched Katy Perry on the halftime show.  She liked the singing and dancing, but you could tell she wasn't herself.  After the halftime show, we headed up to bed, but she still said her stomach hurt and she was so warm.  We decided to let her stay in bed with me hoping the night would go smoothly.  10:30 pm, bath.  She was so hot and I wanted to bring her fever down.  It seemed to cheer her up a bit, but she still looked awful.  11:30 pm, vomiting.  At this point, I knew she wasn't going to school the next day, so we just cuddled and I cross my finger it would pass quickly.  The next morning, my dad mentioned that we always got sick when we had strep (which I have no idea how he remembers this!), but I decided to check her throat.  Her tonsils were HUGE!  I saw no white spots, but she was talking funny because they were so enlarged.  I made a doctor appointment and sure enough strep throat!  Addy & I stayed home for 3 days and she was miserable.  The poor kid didn't want to eat, didn't want to move and just wanted to watch TV or sleep.  At one point, she thought she felt better and wanted to put on a princess dress, but just as quickly took it off and changed her mind.  While sick with strep, we celebrated Gannon’s birthday.  More singing which made Addy happy briefly!  The poor thing didn't even want to eat some cake!
In February Shelly took Addison for her first manicure.  She was so excited to get her nails painted and did really well.  The woman who did her nails was very sweet with her and she really had a good time.
Next up was a visit from Justin’s parents.  They got into town on a Saturday hoping for some nice weather.  While they were here, the temperatures got really cold and we had a lovely ice storm!  They just couldn't get away from the winter weather!  They had to spend much of their time indoors, but Addy loved having them all to herself for the week.  She even got to go to a movie with them in the theater!  She had a great time, but as always was super sad when they had to head back home.  The following week, we had more winter weather, but this time we got snow!  Justin & I took her to my parent’s house on one of our snow days.  We took her outback to build a snowman and go sledding, but she wanted nothing to do with the sled.  She helped Justin build a snowman, but then was totally over it.  Lots of layers for a 20 minute trip outside!
Lately, Addison has become obsessed with hair bows & headbands.  She wants to wear them (whether they match or not) all the time.  Her newest thing to do is rhyme.  Just the other night she was running around in circles yelling, “Cat, Bat, Hat”…”Dad, Mad, Bad”.  It was interesting to say the least.

That’s all I can think of at the moment, next up is a trip from Uncle Adam and Easter!
